The series was inspired by 18-year-old Breanna “Baby” Stow-Jackson, whom Goldstein discovered in a strip club on La Cienega Blvd. Captivated by Baby’s innocent yet provocative beauty, her tattoo-covered body, and the depth and experience in her eyes, Goldstein sought to expose the strength and vulnerability of a culture widely defined by harsh stigmas. The cast of Compton ranges from a high-school student to a famous rapper, an ex-con to a pro-skater–each with his or her own powerful story.
